THE LEAD – Senior forward DeAnte Anderson (Bloomfield, Conn.) scored his league-leading 18th goal to lift the University of Saint Joseph (CT) men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Anderson found the back of the net in the 79th minute of play to break the 0-0 tie, finishing off a pass from Elijah Rowland (Hartford, Conn.) to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
- The Blue Jays were able to make the one-goal lead hold over the final 11 minutes to secure the home victory and move to 7-3-0 on the year in GNAC action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- USJ keeper Jose Miguel Garcia Martin (Madrid, Spain) made three saves to post the shutout win and improve to 4-2-1 on the year.
- EC senior keeper Vincent Conelli (West Hartford, Conn.) made five saves and falls to 4-5-2 in goal.
