Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 to Johnson & Wales in GNAC Play
PROVIDENCE - The Johnson & Wales Men's Soccer Team defeated the Emmanuel (Mass.) Saints 1-0 on Friday night, with the lone goal coming from Danny Peixinho (Warwick, R.I.). The Wildcats improved to 7-3-0 (4-2 GNAC) while the Saints fell to 7-3-2 (4-2-1 GNAC).

The first half went by without a score, although both teams had chances they were unable to convert. The Wildcats had continued pressure on the Saints, outshooting the GNAC opponent 10-1 in the first half.
The lone goal came in the 74th minute of the second half, when Ricky Africo (North Providence, R.I.) sent a high cross into the box that Peixinho met in the air, heading over the goalkeeper into the back of the net. The Wildcats were able to see out pressure from the Saints as time ticked down, taking the 1-0 victory.
Wildcats junior Jacob Friedman (Woodland Hills, Calif.) earned the win for JWU, improving to 5-3-0. Saints senior Vincent Conelli (West Hartford, Conn.) made a season-high eight saves but the loss drops him to 4-2-2.
The Wildcats get back in action on Sunday when they welcome Elms to the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex for a GNAC match starting at 1:00 p.m. The Saints are back on Wednesday, Oct. 13, as they welcome Colby-Sawyer to Clemente Field for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
