QUAYE TABBED TO GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior David Quaye (Ashburnham, Mass.) has been named to the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Soccer All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Quaye appears on the GNAC All-Conference list for the second time in his career, earning GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors during his 2015 rookie campaign.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior David Quaye (Ashburnham, Mass.) has been named to the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Quaye appears on the GNAC All-Conference list for the second time in his career, earning GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors during his 2015 rookie campaign.
Senior midfielder Jason Miech (Coventry, R.I.) represented Emmanuel on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.
Quaye earns Third Team honors after a strong defensive campaign for the Saints. The Ashburnham, Mass. native played in 14 games for Emmanuel, earning 13 starts in the back line. The junior battled several injuries throughout the campaign but was a mainstay in the backfield as one of the top ball-winners in the conference. From Sept. 22 through the end of the season, Quaye appeared in nine matches and helped Emmanuel post a 0.69 goals against average in the games he played in which included three shutouts.
Through three seasons, Quaye has now appeared in 49 matches and started all but one. He has one career goal and been a part of 12 total shutouts.
Despite a strong defensive campaign, Emmanuel finished the year with a 3-9-7 overall record. The squad posted a 3-2-5 mark in GNAC play, finishing above .500 in conference action for just the third time in program history and for the first time since 2013. EC earned the No. 6 seed heading into the GNAC tournament and feel to Norwich University in the GNAC Quarterfinals by a 2-0 score to conclude the season.
