BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Colin O'Donnell (Killingworth, Conn.) and sophomore midfielder Travis Cole (Beckley, W.Va.) have been named to the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office Monday morning. O'Donnell was tabbed to the Second Team while Cole earns Third Team honors.
O'Donnell earns Second Team honors after a breakout senior campaign that saw him finish with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists to rank third in the GNAC in goals and points. Three of his goals were game-winners to rank fifth overall in the conference while his four multi-goal games were the second most among GNAC players. His season also stands up as one of the most productive campaigns in Emmanuel College history, ranking second all-time in single-season goals, points and game-winning goals.
O'Donnell played in 51 contests, getting 48 starts with the Saints after transferring to Emmanuel following his freshman year at Siena College. He graduates with 41 points on 17 goals and seven assists to rank tied for fifth in goals, tied for 10th in assists and ranking sixth overall in total points at Emmanuel.
Cole picks up Third Team honors following a standout sophomore slate at Emmanuel. After missing all of preseason and the early-goings of the 2016 campaign due to a stress fracture, the West Virginia native quickly became an everyday player in the Saints' midfield as one of the most dependable ball-winners. Cole played in 13 matches, starting 11 and tallied six points on two goals and two assists. He scored the game-winner in a crucial 2-0 victory over Rivier University on Oct. 15 that helped secure a GNAC playoff berth for the program.
Prior to Emmanuel, Cole played his freshman campaign at Union College (KY) playing in and starting all 19 games for the Bulldogs.
The Saints finished the 2016 campaign with an overall record of 8-9-2, posting a 4-4-1 record in GNAC play under first year Head Coach Dan Roberts.
