DEAN STAYS UNDEFEATED, DROPS MEN'S SOCCER 7-0
FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College men’s soccer team cruised to a 7-0 non-conference victory Wednesday evening over Emmanuel College at Grant Field.
FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College men's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 non-conference victory Wednesday evening over Emmanuel College at Grant Field. The Bulldogs stay perfect, opening the season with an 8-0 record while the loss drops the Saints to 3-4-1 overall.
Dean wasted no time to get on the board, taking a 1-0 lead just 8:52 into the match on a marker by Leandro Alves. The Bulldogs added to their lead with back-to-back goals by Justin Freitas to make it 3-0 before Kyle Lameiras scored at the 29:49 marker to increase the lead to 4-0. Camden Frederick capped the first half scoring during the 43rd minute of play to account for a 5-0 score at the half.
The hosts outshot the Saints 19-0 in the stanza while owning a 7-0 corner kick advantage.
The Bulldogs added two goals in the second half as Alves made it 6-0 with his second tally of the match before Yuri Mascarenhas concluded the scoring, resulting in the 7-0 final.
Emmanuel did put two shots on frame in the second stanza as freshmen Jack Barbour (Hollis, N.H.) and Ryan Turney (Oakdale, Conn.) both tested Dean keeper Karim Mokhtar to no avail.
Mokhtar finished with two saves to earn the shutout win to improve to 2-0 on the year. EC freshman Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.) suffered the loss making nine saves in the effort.
The Saints return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when they take on Saint Joseph's College (ME) in a 2:00 PM Great Northeast Athletic Conference tilt. Dean is idle until next Wednesday, Sept. 28 when they take on New Hampshire Technical Institute on the road at 4:00 PM.
