BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman midfielder Cameron Messier (Belchertown, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier today.
This marks the third time this season that the Saints were honored in the Weekly Awards program as senior goalkeeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) was tabbed the GNAC Goalie of the Week back on September 8 and October 20.
Last week, Messier collected three points on a goal and an assist, both coming in the GNAC Quarterfinals match up vs. Lasell College. Messier became just the second player in program history to record more than two points in a postseason contest in the Saints 5-3 loss against the Lasers.
On the season, the Belchertown, Mass. native enjoyed a productive campaign registering 11 points on four goals and three assists. Over his final six games, Messier registered nine points including a game-winning goal in the Saints 3-0 victory over Suffolk University on Oct. 18.
The Saints wrap the 2014 season with an overall record of 5-11-2 with a 4-5 mark in GNAC action.
