ATHLETES HONORED AT STUDENT LEADERSHIP RECEPTION
BOSTON, Mass. – Nine student-athletes, as well as Director of Athletics Pam Roecker, were honored last week at Emmanuel’s 13th Annual Student Leadership Reception sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and Multicultural Programs. The Outstanding Organization Member Award is presented to one member of each organization. This individual has shown selfless sacrifice and determination in serving the mission of the group. They consistently surpass expectations of membership to assist the organization in the pursuit of organizational success; accepts new tasks and challenges with enthusiasm and a positive attitude; strives not only to share thoughts and opinions for new ideas but is also a part of putting ideas into action.
The St Julie Billiart medal is presented to an upper class student, usually a junior or senior, whose life exemplifies the mission of the College and the mission of the Sisters of the Notre Dame. This student balances their SND education with co-curricular involvement to contribute to the vibrant campus life offerings. The medal recipient embraces the Catholic tradition of the college and lives of the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame through service to others and a joyful spirit.
The Community Service Award is presented to one student who has thoughtfully contributed their time to the Emmanuel College/Boston community and beyond by organizing and directing initiatives which serve individuals and communities.
The Class of 2016 Leadership Award honors three outstanding students from the Sophomore Class. These students mentored and encouraged other students to develop effective skills in inclusive leadership and teamwork.

The Class of 2017 Leadership Award honors two outstanding students from the Class of 2017. These students show initiative, motivation, and potential for continued student leadership at Emmanuel College.
Tom Tallo - Peer Leadership Award
The Peer Leadership Award is given to one student who has made efforts aimed at assisting their peers in developing successful leadership skills, assisting in their transition to Emmanuel College, as well as upholding student character and community standards.
The Class of 2016 Leadership Award honors three outstanding students from the Sophomore Class. These students mentored and encouraged other students to develop effective skills in inclusive leadership and teamwork.
The Spirit of Emmanuel Award is given to one student who portrays the spirit of Emmanuel College through courtesy, involvement, leadership, service, and spirit.

These awards honor outstanding members of the Emmanuel College community, who best exemplify the following characteristics:
• Significant and noteworthy impact on co-curricular life.
• Serves as a strong role model for their accomplishments to the betterment of the institution.
• Display enthusiasm and school pride in Emmanuel College.
