BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder David Field (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and freshman defender Zach Foley (Uncasville, Conn.) have been selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Third Team, it was announced by the conference office.
Field enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign for the Saints, starting in 19 of the 20 games he played in. The midfielder capped the season with eight points on three goals and two assists to rank tied for second on the team in goals, tied for fourth in assists and sixth overall in points. Field attempted a team-high 57 shots which ranked seventh in the GNAC during the 2013 campaign. The midfielder tallied two game-winning goals for EC coming both in non-conference wins against Daniel Webster College and Clark University. The Saints posted an impressive 4-0 record in contests in which Field recorded a point in. His most impressive performance came in an important GNAC showdown against Mount Ida College in which he tallied three points including a goal to go along with an assist on the game-winning tally, completing a second-half comeback for Emmanuel.
Over his two years with the Saints, Field has scored six goals to go along with two assists for 14 points.
Foley put together a strong rookie campaign as one of the Saints starting defenders and was one of only two rookies to play in all 21 games while starting 20 contests. Foley was a lock down defender and helped the Emmanuel defensive unit post a combined 2.00 goals against average. The unit recorded a pair of shutouts on the season including 2-0 victory over Curry College and a 1-0 win over the two-time defending GNAC Champions in Albertus Magnus. Foley also scored one goal on the year, tallying his first collegiate marker in a big way, notching the lone goal in the aforementioned victory over Albertus Magnus on October 26.
The Saints wrapped up the 2013 campaign posting a 9-12 overall record with a 5-4 mark in GNAC action. Emmanuel earned the No. 6 seed in the GNAC Tournament, returning to the postseason after missing out on the action in 2012. In the playoffs, EC would fall to Johnson & Wales, 3-0, as the Wildcats would go on to become the eventual GNAC Champions edging out Lasell College in penalty kicks following a 3-3 draw.
Senior Ryan Brady (Springfield, Vt.) was also named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
