MEN'S SOCCER BLANKED BY JWU, 3-0, IN GNAC QUARTERFINALS
Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men’s soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Emmanuel in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Sunday afternoon.

JWU connected on the lone goal of the first half at the 43:40 mark of the stanza when junior Kyle Metz (St. James, N.Y.) brought the ball up the right side of the field and sent a centering pass to freshman Xavier Carty (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.). Carty then sent a cross to junior Dustin Hughes (Holden, Mass.) who chipped in a shot from eight yards out to put the Wildcats up 1-0. JWU held a 12-6 advantage in shots for the first half.
The Wildcats added to their lead in the 52nd minute when junior Doug Kase (Clifton, N.J.) connected on a shot after a scramble in front of the net. Freshman Andrew Greenleaf (Allen, Texas) tallied his first collegiate goal at the 55:16 mark to put the Wildcats up by three. JWU then cruised the 3-0 victory.
Junior Ryan Dzierzawski (Oakland, Mich.) made eight saves to secure the 3-0 shutout victory for Johnson & Wales while junior Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) had eight stops for Emmanuel.
Johnson & Wales improves to 13-1-5 overall while Emmanuel wraps up the season with a 9-12 mark. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, November 6th when they host seventh seeded Albertus Magnus for the semifinals of the GNAC Championship at 4:00 p.m.
