SAINTS CRUISE TO 4-1 WIN OVER SUFFOLK
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Soccer Team eased to a 4-1 win over Suffolk University in a cross-town rivalry played under the lights at Roberto Clemente Field on Tuesday night. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win boosted the Saints to 8-10 overall and even at 4-4 in league play. The conference loss dropped the visiting Rams to 4-12 on the season and 2-6 in the GNAC.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win boosted the Saints to 8-10 overall and even at 4-4 in league play. The conference loss dropped the visiting Rams to 4-12 on the season and 2-6 in the GNAC.
Emmanuel opened the scoring thirty minutes in the action. Freshman Wojciech Kopacz (Garfield, N.J.) chipped the ball across the box to junior forward James Carroll (Guilford, Conn.), who calmly played it past Suffolk keeper Nicholas Chamma (Rio de Janero, Brazil).
With only a minute remaining in the half, senior Danny Richman (Medfield, Mass.) found Carroll on the break and he drilled home his fourth goal of the season. After narrowly outshooting the Rams 6-5 in the first half, the host Saints would take a 2-0 lead into the break at halftime.
With much of the second half played scorelessly, the Saints held on to their two-goal edge for 81 minutes. With just 8:29 remaining in the game, Carroll made a beautiful play down the left sideline and hit Stefano Gambino (Lexington, Mass.) open in the box, as the sophomore netted his first career goal and EC led, 3-0.
Suffolk got on the scoreboard in the 87th minute. Senior forward Andres Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) found the back of the Emmanuel net for his tenth marker of the season and the Rams trailed 3-1.
It was just 11 seconds later that the Saints would strike again. Kopacz dished out his second assist of the night, finding Allan Parrelli (Reading, Mass.) in transition and Emmanuel came away with the 4-1 win.
Junior keeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) earned the win for the Saints, his fifth of the season, making 6 saves in the cage. Chamma took the loss for Suffolk, also making 6 saves in the effort.
Suffolk is back in action next Saturday for the Rams' final regular season contest, playing at Rivier University at 2:30 PM. Emmanuel will return to the pitch next Wednesday evening, when the Saints travel across the river to take on the Engineers of MIT in a non-conference battle slated to begin at 7:00 PM. The Saints will wrap up regular season action at home next Saturday (11/2), when they host Albertus Magnus College in a noontime start.
