BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College junior goalkeeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) and freshman forward Wojciech Kopacz (Garfield, N.J.) were both recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for their play in this week's GNAC Men's Soccer Report. Charette was named the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week while Kopacz was honored as the GNAC Rookie of the Week.
Charette posted a 0.50 goals against average on the week en route to a 2-0 record for the Saints, posting wins over Curry College as well as GNAC foe, Rivier University. The junior recorded his sixth career shutout making four saves in a 2-0 win over Curry then followed it up making four saves in a 2-1 conference win over the Raiders. The keeper ended the frame with an .889 save percentage in a 3-0 week for Emmanuel.
On the year, Charette has made 57 saves which leads the conference while boasting a 3-5 record.
Kopacz lifted the Saints to a 3-0 week, scoring two goals that were both game-winners for the Saints. The rookie netted his first collegiate goal in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Newbury College and then would net the game winner in a 2-0 victory over Curry College. He became just the second Emmanuel College freshman to score back-to-back game-winners in consecutive matches in the program's 10-year history.
The Saints are currently 5-6 on the year with a 2-1 mark in GNAC action and enter October on a three-game winning streak. Emmanuel returns to action on Wednesday, October 2 when they head across town to face Emerson College in a non-conference game scheduled for 6:00 PM at Rotch Field.
