HOW IT HAPPENED:
Emmanuel secured the first lead of the game when Cole Cloney (Medfield, Mass.) hit pay dirt at the 8:20 mark of the first quarter. Michaud tied the tilt 22 seconds later as the Monks netted five of the next six goals to stake a 4-2 advantage with 14:45 left in the second stanza.
Saint Joseph's held a 7-4 lead at intermission and held all the momentum after posting a 6-1 run during the third quarter and first 10-plus minutes of the final frame. Freshman Joseph Kiedaisch (Westminster, Mass.) closed out the surge with a shot, taken from behind the net, that deflected off the back of Emmanuel keeper Eric Anderson (Sparta, N.J.) and into the cage, lifting the Monks to a 13-5 cushion with 4:43 remaining.
The conference rivals swapped scores during the closing minutes to account for the 15-7 final.
