Union, N.J. – The Emmanuel Saints battled a strong offense and difficult weather on Wednesday night, falling in non-conference play to Kean University 22-7 at Kean Alumni Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Despite the heavy rain, the Cougars (2-2) netted the game's first eight goals in the nine minutes of action.
Cole Cloney erased the shutout for the Saints (0-4) at the 1:32 mark in the first quarter.
Kean pushed the lead out to 12 at the break as Nick Thorne found the back of the net off a feed from Anthony Porter with just three seconds to go in the second quarter.
The Cougars extended their advantage to 15 goals, leading 19-4 after three quarters.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Connor Batjer led all players with four goals and four assists.
Christian Updale recorded nine groundballs along with 14 faceoff wins and an assist.
Dylan Johnson and Thorne both contributed with three goals and two assists apiece.
Jonathan Slusser came off the bench and tallied two goals and an assist.
Three Cougars split time in goal as Pasquale Capozzoli picked up the win.

Kean travels south and will face Emerson College at Georgetown University on Saturday evening. Emmanuel heads to the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Baltimore, Md. to face Wittenburg on March 8 at 1:00 p.m.
