HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints got things rolling in the first quarter, outscoring the AMCats by a 5-1 margin including the first four of the game during the first nine minutes of play. Senior Ryan Castle (Boxford, Mass.) had two goals and two assists in the frame.
- Emmanuel opened things up in the second by winning the stanza, 7-1 to take a 12-2 lead into halftime. Senior Colin Dickinson (Barre, Vt.) recorded two goals and two assists in the quarter.
- The lone goal of the third came on a man-up score by Dickinson with 5:48 to play in the period to put Emmanuel on top 13-2.
- Anna Maria opened the fourth with back-to-back scores to cut the deficit to single digits at 13-4 on markers by Hank Gittines (Shrewsbury, N.J.) and Tommy Girard (Newbury, Mass.) but Emmanuel responded with five unanswered to end the action by five different goal scorers to account for the 18-4 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Castle finished with seven points on four goals and three assists while Dickinson added three goals and two assists.
- Girard paced AMC with four points on two goals and two assists. While Ethan Quinn (Dudley, Mass.) had one goal and one helper.
- Sophomore Sanzio Digesualdo (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and junior Thomas Quigley (Marblehead, Mass.) each finished with a goal and three assists.
- Cole Cloney (Medfield, Mass.) had two goals while seniors Robert Favuzza (Saugus, Mass.) & Drew Chant (Warwick, R.I.) each contributed a goal and two assists.
- Senior Randy Castle (Boxford, Mass.) made five saves over the first 30 minutes to earn the win in goal. Junior Eric Anderson (Sparta, N.J.) made four saves over the final two quarters.
- Matthew Peicker (Bedford, N.H.) and Nicholas Lopez (Lowell, Mass.) split time in goal for the AMCats making 11 and seven saves, respectively.
- EC outshot AMC 52-22 in the win.
- The Saints were 2-for-4 on man-up opportunities while the AMCats went 1-for-4.
