Men's Lacrosse Triumphant on Senior Day in 14-5 Win Over Anna Maria
BOSTON - A first-half offensive explosion of 10 goals, including six in the second quarter by the Saints, helped EC claim a crucial 14-5 victory over the Anna Maria AMCATS on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. Prior to the start of Saturday’s game, the Saints men’s lacrosse program honored seniors Samuel Burghardt (Gorham, Maine), John Doherty (Leominister, Mass.), Cole Hallamore (North Easton, Mass.), Albert Lee (Albertson, N.Y.), and David Roa (Warwick, R.I.) for their contributions to the program in a Senior Day ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the game tied 1-1 in the final 90 seconds of the first quarter, the Saints offense broke out to a 4-1 lead on goals by sophomores Nolan Bosse (Abington, Mass.) and Aiden Sullivan (Burlington, Conn.), and junior Derek DelVecchio (Saugus, Mass.).
- The momentum of the final three goals of the first quarter carried over for Emmanuel, as they opened the second quarter with a goal by junior Ryan Castle (Boxford, Mass.), followed by back-to-back goals by sophomore Thomas Quigley (Marblehead, Mass.), to edge ahead 7-1.
- The AMCATS cut the deficit to 7-3 on goals by first-year Hank Gittines (Shrewsbury, N.J.) and junior Tommy Girard (Newbury, Mass.), but EC responded with three goals in the final two minutes, including man-up goals by Ryan Castle and sophomore Robert Favuzza (Saugus, Mass.), helping the Saints to a 10-3 halftime lead.
- Ryan Castle, Quigley, and Favuzza combined for all four Saints goals in the second half while Anna Maria senior Nick Massaro (West Haven, Conn.) and first-year Brennan Fields (Chicopee, Mass.) combined for the two AMC goals as Emmanuel triumphed on Senior Day 14-5.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Ryan Castle finished with five goals and two assists to go with three ground balls.
- Quigley finished with a hat trick for EC while adding a pair of helpers in the win.
- Favuzza and Sullivan finished with a pair of goals each.
- Junior goalie Randy Castle (Boxford, Mass.) earned his second win of the season, making 13 saves in the victory.
- Gittines finished with two goals for Anna Maria. He added three ground balls and a caused turnover.
- First-year Nathan Powers (Putney, Vt.) finished with a game-high 12 ground balls.
- Graduate goalie Griffin Moore (Worcester, Mass.) made 13 saves, dropping to 5-10 this season.
