BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman middie Tony Cibelli (Westboro, Mass.) and junior goalie Austin Lauzier (Bedford, N.H.) have been recognized on this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Report. Cibelli has been tabbed the GNAC Rookie of the Week while Lauzier was named the GNAC Goalie of the Week for the third consecutive time.
Cibelli scored two goals, including what would hold up as the game-winner, in the Saints' huge 8-7 win over Lasell College on Saturday to clinch first place in the GNAC. The Westboro, Massachusetts native finished the week with three goals, one assist and three groundballs.
On the year, Cibelli ranks second on the team with 33 points, registering 17 goals and a team-high 16 assists.
Lauzier lifted Saints to an undefeated GNAC record with wins over Saint Joseph's and Lasell this week. The Bedford, New Hampshire native tallied 17 saves and allowed just 10 goals (5.00 goals-against-average) on the week with a .63 save percentage.
Lauzier has been strong all season for Emmanuel in goal, registering a 12-3 record to go along with a 5.75 goals against average, the lowest in the GNAC.
The Saints return to action tomorrow evening when they host Johnson & Wales University at 7:00 PM in the GNAC Quarterfinals. The game will be played at Roberto Clemente Field.
