STRONG SECOND HALF POWERS KEAN PAST MEN’S LACROSSE, 13-4
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.. – The Emmanuel College men’ lacrosse team fell to Kean University, 13-4, Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Booth Field during spring break lacrosse action. KU improves to 3-1 overall on the year while the Saints are still in search of their first win, dropping to 0-3 on the season.

The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Vincent Ferraro (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Jeff Christiano (River Vale, N.J.) and made it 3-0 midway through the second quarter with Ferraro's second goal on the afternoon.
The Saints got on the board following a man-up goal by Ryan Sabuda (Indianapolis, Ind.) to make it 3-1 with 6:09 left to play in the half. Ferraro answered just over a minute later to give Kean a 4-1 lead for his third goal of the half.
Emmanuel sophomore attack Kaile MacLean-Daley (Moretown, Vt.) found the back of the net to cut the Cougars lead to 4-2 on a transition goal, assisted by Sabuda. With 1:08 to play in the half, EC made it a one goal game with an unassisted score by Michael Rogers (New Haven, Conn.) but Kean scored immediately off the ensuing faceoff on a Richard Cheifitz (Fair Lawn, N.J.) tally to account for the 5-3 halftime score.
The second half was a different story as Kean outscored EC, 8-1 to cruise to the 13-4 victory. The Cougars opened the second half just like the first with two goals in the third quarter scored by John Marcelli and Matt Speciale to give KU a 7-3 cushion heading into the final quarter.
Kean put the game out of reach scoring six goals in the fourth before the Saints capped the scoring with an unassisted score by sophomore middie Justin Kelly (Collegville, Pa.) to account for the 13-4 final.
The Cougars owned a 13-7 faceoff advantage on the day and held a 40-38 shots margin.
KU starting goalie Dino Vitale (Ambler, Pa.) made 13 saves in the win while EC junior goalie Austin Lauzier (Bedford, N.H.) stopped 11 before he was relieved by Justin Byers (Indianapolis, Ind.) who made two saves.
Emmanuel returns to action on Friday against Hilbert College for more Spring Break lacrosse down in Myrtle Beach while the Cougars take on Marymount University on Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C.
