EMMANUEL ROLLS TO 16-4 WIN OVER EMERSON
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College cruised to a 16-4 win over Emerson College in a cross-town men's lacrosse match-up played at Roberto Clemente Field on Saturday afternoon. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory, the Saints move to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in GNAC action. Emerson drops to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory, the Saints move to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in GNAC action. Emerson drops to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
The host Saints dominated throughout, opening with contest's first six goals. Emmanuel owned a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, which began with a goal by freshman Justin Kelly (Collegeville, Pa.) just three minutes into the action. Classmate Ryan Sabuda (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored his first of four goals on the day during a man-up opportunity off an assist from Jake Jaskolski (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) five minutes into the game. Rookie Kaile MacLean-Daley (Moretown, Vt.) would score a minute and a half later with his assist coming via Brian O'Regan (Milton, Mass.). Sophomore Jack Ruggiero (Manhasset, N.Y.) was assisted by Jaskolski, as Emmanuel led 4-0 after one.
The second quarter opened with Chris Curtis (Ashland, Mass.) netting his first of two goals in the game. MacLean-Daley scored again off an O'Regan pass, giving the Saints a six-goal advantage, before Emerson got on the board at 11:11 in the second quarter.
Emmanuel quickly recovered, as Jaskolski picked up a groundball at midfield, drove past an Emerson defender and buried the ball into the back of the net with 6:06 remaining in the half. The Saints would score twice more before the break, including Sabuda's second goal of the day and an unassisted tally by Andrew Lawson (Suffern, N.Y.), to hold a 9-2 lead at halftime.
Emerson scored twice quickly to open the second half, with Lavoie netting a man-up goal and then assisting on Kitsos' goal just 30 seconds later, as the Lions cut their deficit to 9-4.
The Saints would then finish the game on a seven-goal tear, as they pulled away for the 16-4 win. During the run, Sabuda scored twice more with assists from Ruggiero. Curtis, Evan Dolber (Malden, Mass.) and Kelly scored unassisted to end the third period with the Saints up, 14-4.
The final quarter featured two more Emmanuel goals, including MacLean-Daley's 21st of the season, which came off a pass inside from Cameron Dillon (Braintree, Mass.). Ruggiero netted his second goal of the game off O'Regan's third assist of the day, bringing the Saints' final tally to 16.
Sophomore goalie Auston Lauzier (Bedford, N.H.) earned the win for the Saints, making 2 saves, while playing the first three quarters. Classmate Justin Byers (Indianapolis, Ind.) relieved Lauzier for the final quarter and stopped all five Emerson shots on goal in the last fifteen minutes of action. Junior goalie Clayton Fisk took the loss for Emerson, making 15 saves in the effort.
MacLean-Daley and Nick Delmonico (Billerica, Mass.) led the Saints with 5 groundballs apiece. Lavoie recorded a game-high 9 groundballs for the Lions.
Emmanuel led 54-27 in total shots and 31-11 in shots on goal. The Saints held a 35-30 advantage in groundballs. Emmanuel went 3-5 in man-up opps, while the Lions were 3-8 on the day.
The Saints will play next this Wednesday evening, when they travel to Mount Ida College to take on the defending GNAC Champions in a 6:30 PM start. Emerson will host Norwich University on Tuesday night in a 6:00 PM start.
