NEW LONDON, Conn. – Saints junior Ian Reynolds (East Haven, Conn.) matched his career-best round, turning in a card of 4-over par, 75, helping the Emmanuel golf team to a third-place finish on Tuesday afternoon at the Mitchell Invite II at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Reynolds's 4-over score was good for a T4 finish on the afternoon, falling two shots shy of the medalist, Jacob Napolitan, whose 2-over round of 73 gave him the individual victory.
Junior Gianni Ridolfi (Kittery, Maine) posted his career-best round, shooting an 85, beating his previous best by eight shots. Senior Jackson Keplinger (Cheshire, Mass.) finished his opening event with an 86.
Eastern Connecticut took home the team win, led by Napolitan. A back nine total of 1-under, 34, was the lowest score by any competitor for either nine on the afternoon. ECSU shot 297 as a team, beating second place Western Connecticut by 31 strokes.
As a team, the Saints put together a score of 334, their best team score in the program since Sept. 19, 2014, where they shot 335 in a tri-match hosted by Newbury College.
Emmanuel heads back to the course later this week, traveling north to the Tony Mariano VT Invitational, hosted by Norwich and the Country Club of Barre.
