GOLF FINISHES SECOND AT EC SAINTS INVITE
BOSTON, Mass. – Mitchell College junior David Eichelberg (Ledyard, Conn.) carded a 77 to earn individual medalist honors but it was Suffolk University who took home the team crown in the 2016 EC Saints Invite with a team score of 325 on Tuesday afternoon at George Wright Golf Course.

Host Emmanuel College carded a 352 to finish second while Eichelberg's Mariners finished third with a team score of 370. Rounding out the field, Dean College came in with a 396.
All five Rams broke 90 on the scorecard led by a team-low of 78 from freshman Owen Boggini (Tolland, Conn.). Fellow rookie Elias Sachs (Arlington, Mass.) played well with an 80 out of the No. 5 spot followed by an 82 from freshman Demetrois Stamouli (Manchester, N.H.). Freshman Andrew Harper (Moreau, N.Y.) wasn't far behind with an 85 out of the NO. 4 spot to round out the top four scores for Suffolk.
The host Saints received a solid outing by freshman Jack Scavone (Auburn, Mass.) who shot an 82 in his first round ever at George Wright. Senior Tyler Russ (Exeter, N.H.) carded a 41 on the front nine but ended the afternoon with an 85 from the NO. 3 position. Sophomore Jack Hanrahan (Thompson, Conn.) put together a solid round of 89 from the No. 5 hole, carding a 45 on the front and 44 on the back. Sophomore Brian Daly (Burlington, Mass.) carded a 96 to round out the top four scores for the hosts.
Eichelberg's 77 led the way for Mitchell followed by an 83 from freshman Michael Izzo (Hamden, Conn.). Junior Jake Hancock (Huntington Beach, Calif.) fired a 91 from the NO. 3 position while senior Eric Davey (Hebron, Conn.) rounded out the Mariner scores with a 119.
For Dean, freshman Michael McAuliffe (Dunstable, Mass.) was the only member to break the century marker with an 85 out of the No. 1 position. Freshman Joshua McInnis (Topsfield, Mass.) posted an even 100 followed by a 105 by sophomore Chris DeLuca (Raritan, N.J.). Junior Jeremy DeVincentis (Franklin, Mass.) was one stroke behind him with a 106.
Emmanuel returns to action this weekend when they head to Gorham, Maine for the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic, a two-day tournament at Gorham Country Club. Suffolk is now idle until the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship the weekend of October 15, also to be played at Gorham Country Club. Mitchell's will host its' final match of the season on October 12 at Shennecossett Golf Course which is also Dean's next contest.
