MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 3RD AT ELMS INVITATIONAL
GRANBY, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Golf Team finished the day with a team score of 325 on Wednesday afternoon at the Elms College Blazers Invitational. The Saints tied their all-time program low score to take 3rd place out of 15 teams at the Westover Golf Course in Granby, Mass. Elms College senior Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.), junior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) and Rhode Island College’s Tim Leigh (Somerset, Mass.) each shot a one-over-par 73 to earn a triple share of individual medalist honors.

The Saints tied their all-time program low score to take 3rd place out of 15 teams at the Westover Golf Course in Granby, Mass. Elms College senior Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.), junior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) and Rhode Island College's Tim Leigh (Somerset, Mass.) each shot a one-over-par 73 to earn a triple share of individual medalist honors.
Rhode Island finished in second place with a team score of 311. Westfield State University finished fourth (329), Castleton State College (331) and Anna Maria College (331), Franklin Pierce University followed with a 334, Newbury College (336), Nichols College (343), The Sage Colleges (346), MCLA (355), Becker College (358), Worcester State University (372), Daniel Webster College (391) and Mitchell College (397) completed the 15-team field.
Anchormen golfer Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Castleton State's Bryan Fitzgerald (Shelton, Conn.) turned in rounds of 76 to finish in a tie for fourth place and round out the top five individual finishers.
One of the major highlights of the event was a hole-in-one on the fourth hole by Castleton State's Daniel Hogan (Burlington, Vt.). Hogan finished with a 41 on both the front and back nine to finish with a round of 82 for the event.
Emmanuel sophomore Brett Burman (Bridgewater, Conn.) finished in 6th place on the day, after carding a 35 on the front and a 43 on the back for an 18-hole total of 78. Freshman Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.) netted a 79 for 7th place, while classmates Cameron Dillon (Braintree, Mass.) and Michael Rague (Old Orchard Beach, Me.) turned in rounds of 84 to cap the scoring for the Saints. Emmanuel's fifth golfer was sophomore Michael Burgess (Milton, Mass.), who carded an 88 on the day.
Emmanuel is back in action on Wednesday, October 3rd, when the Saints host a quad-match at Franklin Park with Elms, Suffolk and Daniel Webster. The four teams are set to tee off at noon.
