ROOKIES PACE MEN’S GOLF TEAM WITH RECORD LOW SCORE
BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Golf Team opened the season with a tri-match at Putterham Meadows on Thursday afternoon, squaring off against Daniel Webster College and host Newbury College. The Nighthawks finished 1st on the day with a low team score of 323. The Saints finished just two strokes off the lead with a 325. Daniel Webster finished in third with a team total of 398.

Emmanuel's team score of 325 in the lowest one-day team total recorded since the program's inception in 2009. Four of the Saints' five golfers featured in Thursday afternoon's match were rookies, competing in their collegiate golf debuts.
Freshman P.J. Levesque (Norton, Mass.) was just one shot off the individual low score for the day. Levesque carded a 39 on the front nine and a 36 on the back for a team-low of 75 on the par-71 course. Classmate Matteo Pocobene (Malden, Mass.) shot a 78 with a 38 on the front and a 40 on the back. Junior Ben Taylor (Newbury, Mass.), the Saints' lone veteran on the course, came in with an 86 (47-39). Sophomore transfer Brett Burman (Bridgewater, Conn.) also finished with an 86 (48-38), to round out the scorers for the Saints. Freshman Michael Rague (Old Orchard Beach, Me.) was Emmanuel's fifth golfer and carded an 87 (46-41) on the day.
Emmanuel will return to action next Thursday (September 20th), when the Saints host both Newbury and Daniel Webster, along with GNAC rival, Suffolk University in a quad-match at William J. Devine Golf Course. Tee time is slated for 12:00 PM.
