Feb. 16, 2009
Emmanuel's Isaiah Duke was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's (GNAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending on February 14th. The freshman guard led the Saints to a 2-0 week, with wins over Norwich University and Rivier College. During the week, the Albany, New York native hit 16 of his 23 attempts from the floor for a 69.6 field goal percentage, while also knocking down 7 of 9 from the free throw line (77.8%). Early in the week, Duke scored 16 points in 19 minutes to help the Saints top Norwich. He then poured in a game-high 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Emmanuel over Rivier. Duke is currently Emmanuel's fourth leading scorer, averaging just under 10 points per game, while shooting 45.3% on the season. The rookie will be looking to help the Saints win their first-ever GNAC title next week, as Emmanuel hosts one of the opening round games in the conference tournament.
