MEN'S HOOP TEAM DROPS REGULAR SEASON FINALE TO ST. JOE'S

Standish, ME - The Emmanuel College Men's Basketball Team was defeated in the final seconds of Saturday's regular season finale. The Saints fell on the road to the Monks of St. Joseph's College, 69-68, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. St. Joe's sophomore guard Scot Vachon (Schenectady, NY) made a lay-up with 3.2 seconds left to propel the Monks to the upset victory in Standish, ME.
The Monks fought back from a 16-point first half deficit to claim the victory. Junior guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led three Emmanuel players in double figures. Williams-Hinton netted 20 points, hitting 6 of 12 from the floor and 6 of 7 from the line. He also connected on both of his three-point attempts, while grabbing 5 rebounds and tallying 4 steals in the effort. Junior forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) recorded another double-double with 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior forward Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) completed the tri of double figure scorers with his 10 points.
Emmanuel was out-rebounded by St. Joe's, 41-35, and committed 24 turnovers in the game. The Monks shot 51.7% in the second half to seal the win. Sophomore guard Alberto Rue (Jamaica Plain, MA) led St. Joe's with 14 points in the win. Chris Davis notched 12 points and 10 boards, while Rashon Jones chipped in with 11 points and 4 assists for the Monks.
The Monks capped off the regular season at 13-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play. Emmanuel finished up at 16-9 overall and 14-4 in the GNAC. The Saints received the 3rd seed in the upcoming GNAC post-season tournament. Emmanuel will host 6th seeded Rivier College on Tuesday night (2/26) at 7:30pm.
