Boston, MA - The Lasell College Lasers upended the Emmanuel College Saints, 84-70, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Tuesday night in the Jean Yawkey Center. The visiting Lasers handed the Saints just their second conference loss of the season and improved to 14-8 overall and 11-4 in GNAC play. Emmanuel fell to 15-7 on the season and 13-2 in the conference.
Lasell's junior forward Jose Guitian (Miami, FL) led all scorers with 26 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, while also dishing out 4 assists. Guitian hit 10 of his 18 attempts from the floor and 5 of 6 from the line in 40 minutes of action. Guitian was one of three players scoring in double figures for the Lasers. Junior forward Brad Caravoulias (Dracut, MA) knocked down 6 of 11 from the field in his 16-point effort. Senior guard Jamie Crawford (Coral Springs, FL) scored 11 points in the victory, including 7 from the free throw line.
As a team, the Lasers shot 52.5% from the field and 70% from the line, while the Saints shot 45.5% from the floor and just 58.3% from the line. Tonight's match-up featured 4 lead changes and 5 ties, before Lasell came away with the win. Emmanuel was led by junior guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI), who netted 21 points and grabbed 8 boards for the hosts. On his second hoop of the game, Williams-Hinton became the Emmanuel men's basketball program's all-time leading scorer. He now has a total of 1,215 points in his collegiate career.
