Saints Finish EC Tip-Off Classic With 71-52 Win Over Bridgewater State
BOSTON - Emmanuel College led from the opening tip, thanks in part to a team-high 21 points by sophomore Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn.), as the Saints have started the season 2-0 with a 71-52 win over the Bridgewater State Bears as part of the EC Tip-Off Classic.

THE LEAD – Emmanuel College led from the opening tip, thanks in part to a team-high 21 points by sophomore Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn.), as the Saints have started the season 2-0 with a 71-52 win over the Bridgewater State Bears as part of the EC Tip-Off Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints built their lead in the opening five minutes with a 9-0 scoring run, including four points by Pope. In total, Emmanuel scored 23 of the game's opening 31 points to lead 23-8.
- The Bears closed to within six at one point in the first half, including an 8-2 run that saw the Bears sneak back into the game, as Bridgewater State hit the locker room trailing 32-24.
- Bridgewater State continued to claw their way back into the game, closing to within five with 15:15 remaining in the game.
- But later in the half, the Saints regained momentum, ending the game on a 23-11 run that opened the gap to double digits. Pope drove the scoring surge for the Saints, scoring 13 of the Saints 23 points in the run that spanned the last 11:12.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Along with his 21 points, Pope added 10 rebounds for the first double-double of the season for any Saints player this season.
- Sophomore Eljay Morris (London, England) added 14 points in 18 minutes. Morris helped sustain the Saints lead in the first half, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the opening half.
- Grad Zachary Crisafulli (Easthampton, Mass.) added six points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.
- Bears first-year Camden Dunbury (Pocasset, Mass.) had a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, including a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line.
- Senior Alan Pettway (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Keyth Key (Springfield, Mass.) each had eight points.

- The Saints head into Great Northeast Athletic Conference play in their next game. Emmanuel welcomes the Regis College Pride to Yosinoff Gym on Nov. 17 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
