MOUNT IDA POWERS PAST EMMANUEL IN GNAC OPENER, 92-56
BOSTON, Mass. – Four players scored in double figures to lead the Mount Ida College men’s basketball team past Emmanuel College, 92-56, Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Jean Yawkey Center. The win lifts the Mustangs to 2-4 on the year and 1-0 in GNAC action while the loss dips the Saints to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The win lifts the Mustangs to 2-4 on the year and 1-0 in GNAC action while the loss dips the Saints to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Mount Ida rushed out to a 16-2 run to start the game with seven points coming from junior Errald Jordine (Stamford, Conn). Emmanuel would narrow the lead to eight points after Joe Tamburro (South Windsor, Conn.) knocked down two consecutive three pointers with 9:35 left in the half. The Mustangs would enter the break with a 41-23 lead.
The Mustangs first half scoring attack was spearheaded by Jayson Clark (Austin, Texas) and Ethan Dujon (Warwick, R.I.) recording 10 and 11 points respectively; Dujon also recorded a team high five rebounds.
Tamburro led the Saints scoring with nine points while Aidan Hadley (Owls Head, Maine) recorded a team high four rebounds at the break.
The two teams traded baskets throughout the beginning of the second half leaving the Saints trailing 45-65 with 11 minutes remaining in the game. Ida opened up a 84-53 lead with three minutes left on the clock and would not look back. As the clock expired the score read Mustangs 92, Saints 56.
Mount Ida victory was powered by a 21 point 10 rebound double-double from Dujon and double digit scoring efforts from Jordine, Clark and Brendan Cunningham (Quincy, Ma) recording 16, 15 and 10 respectively.
Emmanuel saw a 16 point performance by Tamburro as well as eight points and a team high seven boards from Hadley.
Emmanuel will return to action Thursday, December 1 where they will travel to Albertus Magnus in another GNAC matchup. Mount Ida will face off against GNAC opponent Anna Maria on the road on Thursday, December 1.
