THREE TIMES A CHARM FOR SULLIVAN
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman James Sullivan has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season and for the second consecutive week. Sullivan’s most recent recognition came after he averaged 18 points and four rebounds in two games last week, while leading the Saints to a huge victory over Rivier University.
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman James Sullivan has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season and for the second consecutive week. Sullivan's most recent recognition came after he averaged 18 points and four rebounds in two games last week, while leading the Saints to a huge victory over Rivier University.
The Wethersfield, Connecticut native hit for 23 points, shooting 9 for 17 from the floor in a loss to Saint Joseph's last Tuesday night. He then followed that up with 13 points, coming off of 5-9 shooting, in a 67-62 victory at home over Rivier on Saturday afternoon.
Sullivan is currently the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points per game and shooting 41.2% from the floor. The rookie swingman has really cranked it up late in the season, pouring in double-figures in the past six consecutive games, including posting a streak of four-straight twenty-plus point games.
Sullivan also received GNAC Rookie of the Week honors on November 26, 2013 and just last week on February 10, 2014.
Sullivan and the Saints are still in the hunt for the final GNAC Tournament play-off position, as they host Suffolk University tonight in the Jean Yawkey Center. Tip-off with the Rams is slated for 7:30 PM.
