DYE RECEIVES 2ND-STRAIGHT GNAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONOR
Sept. 14, 2011
Emmanuel College freshman Ameena Dye was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, an honor she is receiving for the second-straight week. The rookie kicked off her collegiate career garnering consecutive highly competitive conference honors after leading the Saints Cross Country Team in its first two meets of the season.
Dye's most recent honor came on September 12th after the Syracuse, New York native set a new Emmanuel three mile program-record. Dye ran a 19:40 three-mile race at Massachusetts Maritime Academy's Lt. Travis Fuller Invitational on September 10th. The rookie finished first for the Saints and 7th overall, out of a field of 100 total runners.
Dye has now raced to consecutive program records for the Saints, as she ran an Emmanuel two-mile record of 12:40.40 on September 3rd, subsequently earning her first GNAC Rookie of the Week nod.
Dye and the Saints will return to action this Saturday (9/17), when they compete in UMass Dartmouth's Invitational Meet, held in Dartmouth, Mass.
