FORTY STUDENT-ATHLETES AMONG EMMANUEL'S 89TH GRADUATING CLASS

Emmanuel College conferred nearly 650 degrees to bachelor's and master's candidates during its 89th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14th. This was the largest graduating class in Emmanuel's history. Among the graduates were forty student-athletes, who have competed over the past four years on Emmanuel's 16 varsity athletic teams.
The College also honored James Roosevelt, Jr., the president and chief executive officer of Tufts Health Plan, Angela Faletra Menino, first lady of the city of Boston, and Malcolm Rogers, the Ann and Graham Gund director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In the opening remarks of the ceremony, College President Sister Janet Eisner, SND commended members of the Class of 2011 for working together to make Emmanuel the vibrant place it is today.
Member of this high-achieving class included those who excelled not only in the Emmanuel classrooms, but on the Saints' playing fields as well. Of the forty graduating student-athletes, eight were selected to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Teams for their respective sports. Twenty-two were named to the GNAC's All-Academic Team. Five were named to the GNAC's All-Sportsmanship Team and two of these seniors were named conference Players of the Year.
