WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM NAMED USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
March 9, 2010
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Emmanuel College Women's Cross Country Team has been recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as one of the All-Academic Teams for the 2009 season. The Saints recorded a combined grade point average of 3.25 to meet the requirements of All-Academic Team. Emmanuel was one of 153 Division III women's programs nation-wide to receive this honor.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire Blugolds were the 2009 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Friday. The Blugolds won their first-ever NCAA Division III Cross Country team championship at the 2009 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. UW Eau Claire also won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and the NCAA Division III Midwest Region title in the weeks leading up to their national championship. The Blugolds earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors every year since 2005. This year's squad sports a 3.49 team GPA.
Whitworth University had the highest overall team grade point average (3.73). A total of 153 Division III
women's programs received the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team honors this year. Incredibly, all ten of the top ten teams and 23 of the top 25 teams at this year's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference led all conferences with a total of ten schools on the All-
Academic team list. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and New England Small College Athletic
Conference followed closely behind, each with nine schools earning All-Academic honors.
