Cross Country Teams Earn Season Best Finishes at Smith Invitational
In the second event of the season for both the men’s and women’s cross country programs, both teams managed their best team finishes of the year with the women placing 3rd and the men placing 6th in the Smith College Invitational.

THE LEAD – In the second event of the season for both the men's and women's cross country programs, both teams managed their best team finishes of the year with the women placing 3rd and the men placing 6th in the Smith College Invitational.
EMMANUEL HIGHLIGHTS
- For the 3rd place women's cross country program, senior Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) registered a 12th place finish with a 5k time of 21:05.56.
- Just behind Fitzpatrick, with a career-best finish, was junior Elizabeth Cameron (Raynham, Mass.). After a final time of 21:19.84 in the 5k, Cameron earned a 13th place finish.
- Sophomore Emma Krantz (Manchester, N.H.) picked up a top-20 finish in the Smith XC 5k with her final time 21:58.48, good for 18th position.
- In the men's competition, also a 5k race, first year Patrick Hill (Barrington, N.H.) set the pace for the Saints, finishing in 13th place with a time of 17:36.43.
- Sophomore Jorge Zapata (Parkland, Fla.) grabbed 19th place with his 5k time of 18:35.68.
- Hill and Zapata's top-20 finishes are career-bests for the runners as individuals.
FINAL RESULTS
- In the women's competition, the home program of Smith College took 1st place, finishing with 22 points. Finishes of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th lead to Smith's team victory.
- For the men, Franklin Pierce used finishes of 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th to score 19 points and take the victory.
- Wondu Summa finished 1st in the men's race as an individual. Bethaney Donnolly took the individual win in the women's competition. Both Summa and Donnolly represented Franklin Pierce.

- The cross country programs are off until Saturday, Sept. 25, where they will travel to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine for the Bowdoin College Invitational.
