CROSS COUNTRY RUNS WELL AT BOWDOIN INVITATIONAL
BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Emmanuel College cross country team competed this past weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational on the campus of Bowdoin College. The men’s squad finished fourth overall in a four team field while the women’s team placed fourth in a five team field.

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Emmanuel College cross country team competed this past weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational on the campus of Bowdoin College. The men's squad finished fourth overall in a four team field while the women's team placed fourth in a five team field.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bowdoin women placed four of the top five finishers to easily pull away from the field in the 5000 meter race
- The Emmanuel women's team scored 124 points for a fourth place finish
- Bowdoin's Sarah Kelley took first individually with a time of 18:47.7
- Junior Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the top EC finish in 26th place with a time of 20:44.8
- St. Francis (Nova Scotia) placed five of the top six finishers in the men's race to take first overall in the 8000 meter race
- Donald Scott of St. Francis earned the individual win with a first place finish time of 25:08.1
- EC freshman Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine) came in as the top finisher for the Saints in 18th place overall with a time of 27:34.1, setting a new EC rookie record in the 8k
- The Emmanuel men scored 102 points, finishing just behind Univ. of New England College who grabbed third with 95 points.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Saints return to action on Saturday, September 24 when they compete in the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The women's race begins at 11:00 AM while the men's race starts at 11:45 AM.
