CROSS COUNTRY WRAPS UP FALL SEASON AT NCAA D-III NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Emmanuel College men’s and women’s cross country team wrapped up the 2015 campaign with one final performance coming at the NCAA Division III New England Championship hosted by Connecticut College. Williams College edged Amherst College in the men’s 8K race with 67 points while the Williams women’s team cruised to the win in the 6K race with 44 points, beating Tufts by 63 points.

Williams College edged Amherst College in the men's 8K race with 67 points while the Williams women's team cruised to the win in the 6K race with 44 points, beating Tufts by 63 points.
For the Saints, the women finished 37th overall in the 56 team field while the men finished 47th overall in a 55 team field.
EC freshman Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, R.I.) was the first Saint to cross the finish line with a time of 24:14, good for 137th place. Rookie Mimi Duncan (Portsmouth, N.H.) wasn't far behind with a time of 24:44 in 172nd place while sophomore Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the third Saint to finish coming in at 25:36 in 228th place. Sophomore Marwah Haq (Methuen, Mass.) came in fourth for EC in 252nd with a time of 26:01 and in her final cross country race with Emmanuel, senior Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) had a strong showing with a time of 26:31 in 287th place.
MIT junior Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) took home the women's individual title with a time of 21:36.
On the men's side, junior Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) paced the Saints with a time of 27:38 and a 164th place finish. Senior Sean Colford (Epping, N.H.) placed 263 coming in at 29:03 while fellow senior Corey Hebert (Acushnet, Mass.) registered a time of 30:02 in 304th place overall. Senior Craig Schoaf (Raynham, Mass.) was fourth overall for Emmanuel crossing the finish in 31:02 in 334th while classmate Thomas Tallo (Lincoln, R.I.) was just five seconds behind him at 31:07 in 337th place.
Amhest sophomore Mohamed Hussein (Hargeisa, Somaliland) took home the men's individual title with a time of 24:39.
Many of the Saints will now transition over to the Indoor Track & Field season which opens on Saturday, December 5 at the 4th Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open at the Reggie Lewis Center.
