CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Thirteen Emmanuel College student-athletes qualified for and competed in the New England Division III Championships on Saturday afternoon at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Saints sent eight athletes competing in individual events and two men's relay teams to the meet. Over the course of the day, seven Emmanuel men received All-New England honors and four new program records were set. The Emmanuel men placed 15th as a team with 19 total points.
Both Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) and Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) ran down records in their individual events. Julien sprinted to an 8th place finish in the 200m with an Emmanuel record time of 22.50. His top-eight finish earned the rookie All-New England honors in the event. Julien's performance in the 200m was one of his three All-New England performances on the day. He also placed 4th in the 400m with a time of 49.36.
Bruno broke his own Emmanuel record in the 400m hurdles with a fourth place All-New England performance. His time of 54.29 lowered his qualifying time for the ECACs, in which he will compete on May 17th. Bruno is now ranked 10th in the East and 29th nationally in the 400m hurdles. Freshman Ryan Thomas qualified for and competed in the same event on Saturday, finishing 12th with his personal best time of 57.40.
The Saints sent two qualifying females to the championships on Saturday. Senior Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) ran 14th in the 400m with a time of 60.66. Classmate Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, R.I.) competed in her 100m hurdle event, placing 17th with a time of 16.63.

The record-breaking team consisted of Bruno running the lead-off leg (51.02), Thomas (50.08), Ben Perdue (50.57) and Julien (48.06). The second place finish earned all four athletes All-New England honors and the group moved into New England's Top-Ten, ranked the 10th 4x400m relay team in the East.
The men's 4x800m relay just missed All-New England status, as they finished 9th with a time of 8:01.64. Senior Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) ran the first leg, followed by Chris Baker (Holden, Mass.), Patrick Callan (Pawling, N.Y.) and David Allen (Hull, Mass.).
