OUTDOOR T&F POSTS FOUR SCHOOL RECORDS AT NEU SOLOMON INVITE

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's and women's track & field team enjoyed a record-breaking afternoon on Saturday at the Northeastern University Solomon "Husky" Invite as four school records were set including another recorder-setting performance in the men's 400m dash by freshman sprinter Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.).
Julien, who had previously set the record in the 400m event earlier this season at the Jerry Gravel Classic at Westfield State University on March 24 with a time of 49.02 seconds, was able to shave off .03 tenths of a second for a new record of 48.99 seconds and a third place overall finish in the event. Sophomore David Allen (Hull, Mass.) also ran well in the same race, posting a personal best with a time of 53.24 seconds.
The other three school records posted by the Saints were all in field events as senior Kyle Ford-Withrow (Boston, Mass.) registered a throw of 109'7'' in the Discuss. Junior Mitch Moise (Medford, Mass.) posted a personal best in the same event with a heave of 80'10''.
The third EC school record on the day came in the Hammer Throw as senior Greg Brown (Norton, Mass.) chucked the hammer weight 105'10'' to take over the top spot in school annals. Moise too had a personal best with a throw of 99'01''.
The final school record on the day came in the Javelin at the hands of sophomore thrower David Weiss (Cohasset, Mass.). Weiss launched the jav 166'11'' for a third place finish in the event.
In the women's 400m race, senior Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) improved her New England D-III qualifying time with a sixth place finish at 60.68 seconds while junior Julie Young (Derry, N.H.), sophomore Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.) , junior Lauren Gogel (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, R.I.) all posted personal bests in the same event.
In the men's 400m hurdles, sophomore Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) posted a second place finish with a time of 55.03 seconds while sophomore Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.) also ran well with a fifth place finish and time of 57.51 seconds, good to qualify him for the New England D-III meet later this spring.
Comprised of Bruno, Thomas, sophomore Bed Purdue (West Springfield, Mass.) and Julien, the men's 4X400m relay team finished second in their event with a time of 3:23.54 which also qualified them for the ECAC championship.
Other strong events for the Saints included a second place finish by Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.) in the 3K Steeplechase with a time of 13:17.58. Senior Abi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) finished fourth in the 800m race with a sub-two minute time of 1:59.67 while Perdue posted a fifth place finish with a personal best time in the 200m race by crossing the finish line at 23.26 seconds.
In the 100m hurdles, McCabe paced the Saints with a fourth place showing and a time of 16.59 while on the men's side, Thomas finished seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.04 seconds.
Freshman jumper Sam Ferraro (Southwick, Mass.) registered a fifth place showing in the Long Jump with a leap of 20'8'' while Perdue was not far behind him, jumping 20'5.75'' for a sixth place finish. Sophomore Kelly Ulf represented the women's jumped with a fifth place leap in the Triple Jump, notching a distance of 33'0.25''.
Emmanuel will return to the track next Saturday when they head across the bridge for the MIT Invitational in Cambridge, Mass. on April 21 beginning at noon.
