SAINTS POST 12 TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT SHEEHAN INVITATIONAL

FITCHBURG, Mass. - The Emmanuel Track & Field Teams competed in Fitchburg State University's Sheehan Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Saints third meet of the outdoor season featured Emmanuel athletes recording top-five finishes in twelve different events, while both the men's and women's 4x800 meter relay teams qualified for the New England Division III Championships.
In the distance races, Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) took 1st place in the 10k. The senior captain posted a winning time of 34:09.76. Sophomore Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.) ran a personal best time of 13:22.79 in the 3k steeplechase to capture 5th place. Three athletes ran PR times in the 1500 meters, including Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) with a time of 5:16.63, Danielle Martin (York, Me.) coming in at 5:29.69, and Patrick Callan (Pawling, N.Y.) with a time of 4:25.59 in the men's race.
Emmanuel's program-record holder in the 400m, freshman Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.), snagged 2nd place in the event on Saturday. Julien sprinted in at 50:44. Sophomore Chris Baker (Holden, Mass.) recorded his PR time of 53:14 in the same event.
Sophomore Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) ran a second and a half slower than his program-record time, but still managed a 1st place win in the 400m hurdles. Bruno cruised in at 56.03 to pick up the win.
The Emmanuel men's 4x400 meter relay team, including Ben Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.), Ryan Thomas (Wakefield, R.I.), Eric Donnelly (Halifax, Mass.) and Julien placed second with a time of 3:31.36. The 4x800 meter team earned a 4th place finish, but set a new program-record, finishing in 8:21.39. The team, consisting of Bruno, Dave Allen (Hull, Mass.), Callan and Baker, has now qualified for the New England Division III Championships.
The women's 4x800m relay team qualified for New Englands as well. The quartet of Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, N.Y.), DelSignore, Martin and Julie Young (Derry, N.H.) placed second with a time of 10:30.01 and set a new Emmanuel record in the process.
The Saints excelled in the field events as well, as sophomore Kelly Ulf (Lunenburg, Mass.) captured two top-fives jumps. Ulf snagged 4th place in the high jump (4'9.75") and 5th place in the long jump (16'4.25"). Freshman Sam Ferraro (Southwick, Mass.) earned 3rd place in the long jump with a personal best distance of 20.9.75". Sophomore David Weiss (Cohasset, Mass.) launched the javelin 163'3" for a personal best and picked up third place. On the women's side, both Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.) and Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) recorded PRs in the javelin with distances of 81'11" and 71'2", respectively.

Emmanuel will be in action this Saturday (April 14th), when the Saints travel to Dedham, Mass. to compete in Northeastern University's Solomon Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00am.
