SAINTS SHINE IN OUTDOOR TRACK SEASON OPENER

DEDHAM, Mass. - The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Teams ran their outdoor season opener at the Northeastern University Spring Open on Saturday. Despite the cool temperatures at the meet's start, the Saints put forth a strong effort and performed well against their Division I and II competitors.
Freshman Stephen Armstrong (Revere, Mass.) set a new program record in the 10K, running a time of 34:24.72. Freshman Christopher Conway (Norton, Mass.) ran the 100 meter dash in 11.68, placing fourth. Junior Dan D'Amato (Huntington, Mass.) ran his personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 53.85, placing eighth. Freshman Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.) and sophomore Ben Cleveland (Auburn, Maine) ran relatively close races in the 800 meters, finishing with times of 2:07.61 and 2:07.89, respectively.
On the women's side, freshman Marissa LaFlamme (Newburyport, Mass.) and sophomore Victoria Cole (Carver, Mass.) ran their personal bests in the 1500 meters with times of 5:43.90 and 5:53.62, respectively. The women's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, Mass.), freshman Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.), senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) and freshman Brittany Sorice (Dover, N.H.) placed third and earned themselves a new program record. The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Fitzpatrick, freshmen Nacy Brandao (Dorchester, Mass.), Hannah Fox (Biddeford, Maine) and Kulubya also did well and placed second overall with a time of 55.65.
