BOSTON – Saints Class of 2024 graduates Beverly Browne (Amesbury, Mass.), Alyssa French-Graham (Waterbury, Conn.), and Emma Krantz (Manchester, N.H.), Class of 2025's Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) and Naomi Obenhaus (Sabattus, Maine), and Class of 2026 member Evie Holt (Dracut, Mass.) have all been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Women's Cross Country, Track and Field Academic All-District Team®, as announced by the CSC on June 18.
Key changes were made to the nomination criteria for cross country and track and field programs this season, as participating in a percentage of meets over the season no longer played a role in a student-athletes eligibility.
This year, from an athletic perspective, a student-athlete required a top-50 regional performance in an individual event, according to the Track and Field Results & Meets Results site, TFRRS. The top-50 performance could have come from any of the three of cross country, indoor track and field, or outdoor track and field. Indoor and outdoor track relay competitions were not eligible for entry as a top-50 performance.
Familiar criteria remained in place as nominees must still be sophomores in academic standing and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Graduate students are judged based on their final undergraduate cumulative GPA for nomination until a new graduate program GPA has been established.
Browne's top regional performance came as a 32nd-place ranking in the East Region in the indoor pole vault. She added three other top-40 East Region performances in the outdoor pole vault, the indoor 60-meter hurdles, and the outdoor 100-meter hurdles.
French-Graham received the CSC Academic All-District® nod after a 30th-place ranking in the East Region in the outdoor discus. A top throw for the Saints, French-Graham added top-50 performances in the East in the outdoor hammer, the indoor weight throw, and the indoor shot put.
Krantz picks up the spot with a 46th-place finish in the East Region in the 10,000-meter run.
Brito, a strong jumper for the Saints, earned her spot on the CSC team with a 23rd-place triple jump during the indoor season in the East Region. She added a 28th-place spot in the East in the outdoor triple jump.
Obenhaus picked up her nomination with a 36th-place East Region ranking in the outdoor pole vault. She also produced a 45th-place East Region ranking in the 400-meter hurdles.
Holt rounds out the group selected to the Academic All-District® team with a 43rd-place spot in the East Region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Unlike in past years, the nomination to the Academic All-District® team does not necessarily move a student-athlete into consideration for the Academic All-America® ballot. A committee, comprised of Academic All-America® Core Members and members from the CSC will determine which athletes move to the All-America ballot.
Once the ballot is released, CSC members have until June 25 to vote for Academic All-Americans®. The CSC will announce the Academic All-America® Teams on Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10.
