WINTHROP, Mass. - At the final meet before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, junior Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) was named the GNAC Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday afternoon, following another strong performance in the field for Robinson at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by UMass Lowell.
Already qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the triple jump, Robinson added qualification in the DIII Meet after a new program record in the long jump. Robinson broke the previous mark by six inches, after leaping 5.32 meters (17' 5.50") and placing 12th. Despite the program record, the 12th place in the long jump wasn't the best finish on the day for the junior jumper. Robinson came in second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.09 meters (36' 4.75").
The Saints return to competition on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, for the GNAC Championship, hosted at Regis College. The women's program is seeking its third straight GNAC Outdoor Championship.
