LOWELL, Mass. - In their final meet and preparation before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Meet, Saints Track and Field competed at the George Davis Invitational on Saturday, hosted by UMass Lowell.
Already qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the triple jump, Saints junior Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) added qualification in the DIII Meet after a new program record in the long jump. Robinson broke the previous mark by six inches, after leaping 5.32 meters (17' 5.50") and placing 12th. Despite the program record, the 12th place in the long jump wasn't the best finish on the day for the junior jumper. Robinson came in second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.09 meters (36' 4.75").
Robinson's teammate and fellow junior Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) recorded a top-10 finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.31 meters (33' 10"), good for ninth place.
The men's triple jumpers also took a pair of top-10 finishes with sophomore Pierre Paul Labossiere (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) taking eighth place with a jump of 12.60 meters (41' 4.25"). Fellow sophomore Luke Wiley (East Wareham, Mass.) finished 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.12 meters (39' 9.25").
Next up for the Saints is the GNAC Championship on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, hosted at Regis College.
