Saints Track and Field Continues Strong Showings at Monks Invitational
STANDISH, Maine - With just two weeks before the conference championship meet, the Emmanuel Saints men’s and women’s track and field programs competed in the Monks Invitational on Saturday at Saint Joseph’s College.

THE LEAD – With just two weeks before the conference championship meet, the Emmanuel Saints men's and women's track and field programs competed in the Monks Invitational on Saturday at Saint Joseph's College.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) was once again the winner in the high jump competition, clearing the bar at 1.52 meters. In addition to the high jump win, Robinson claimed first place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.39 meters. A fifth place in the long jump added four more points to Robinson's total, as she was responsible for 24 points on the day.
- Sophomore Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) posted a third place finish in the triple jump, setting a new PR in the process, with a jump of 9.95 meters. Between Robinson, Brito, and an eighth place for first-year Victoria Bettencourt (Swansea, Mass.) in the triple jump, the Saints compiled 17 points in the event alone.
- Junior Beverly Browne (Amesbury, Mass.) and first-year Paula Salazar (Cumberland, R.I.) each cleared the pole vault at 2.50 meters. Salazar cleared the bar on her first attempt, leading to a fourth place finish while Browne needed two attempts to clear, resulting in a sixth place finish. The combination of finishes in the pole vault added seven points to the team total.
- First-year Tiffany Fischer (South River, N.J.) posted her best finish in the javelin in the 2023 season, shattering her previous PR by over four meters, after a throw of 29.22 meters, good for fifth place.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- First-year Mikel Lacroix (Cumberland, R.I.) was the men's team's top finisher, placing second in the 100-meter dash, following a PR time of 11.55 seconds. Fellow first-year Gus Fallah (Acton, Mass.) added a fifth place in the 100 meters after his sprint of 11.82 seconds. The combo added 12 points to the Saints team score.
- Fallah wasn't done after his 100 meter dash, as a seventh place finish, along with two points, came courtesy the 200 meter dash, after a time of 23.74, shaving nearly a second off his previous PR.
- First-year Luke Wiley (East Wareham, Mass.) made his outdoor debut with a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.61 meters, adding two points to the team score.

- Saints outdoor track and field returns to action on Saturday, April 22, competing in the Regis Pre-Conference Meet, starting at 10:00 a.m. The event at Regis will be the final meet before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Sunday, April 30, hosted at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine.
