SCHNEIDER BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD AT NEW ENGLAND D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- With a total of 123 points, the MIT men's track and field team claimed the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship by a 27-point margin over No. 11 ranked Tufts on Saturday afternoon at Williams. MIT had 21 individuals earn All-New England honors, along with two relays and three individual champions as the Engineers picked up their fifth title in the last six years.

MIT had 21 individuals earn All-New England honors, along with two relays and three individual champions as the Engineers picked up their fifth title in the last six years.
Emmanuel Was represented by three competitors in three competitions at the meet. The competing Saints were Freshman heptathlete Jacquelyn Schneider (Weymouth, Mass.), Senior Jumper Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) and fellow Senior and distance runner Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.).
The cold and wet weather Friday was more typical of early April, rather than May. Schneider started off the competition for the Saints as she competed in the first four events of the Heptathlon. She recorded a personal best in the first event, the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.16. The freshman followed that up with the high jump and the shot put leading into her last event of the day, the 200m where she notched another personal best with a time of 28.02. She returned to action Saturday morning to compete in the final 3 events. In the long jump Schneider jumped 15'5.5" and threw the javelin 81'10". The last event of the Heptathlon was the 800m where she wrapped up her final event with a time of 2:43.22. Schneider finished 12th overall and the 3rd best freshmen with a new Emmanuel College record of 3574 points.
Brooks cleared 5'1"and just barely missed her last attempt at 5'3' finishing 12th among all high jumpers. Chamenko finished his Emmanuel career with a 19th place finish in the steeple chase with a time of 10:08.91. The New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship concluded the the 2016-17 track and field season for Emmanuel College, the Saints Cross Country team will return to action in the Fall of 2017.
