EMMANUEL TRACK & FIELD TEAMS GIVE BACK
Jan. 24, 2012
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor
Track & Field Teams generously donated their time and energy on
January 11th, 2012, when the Saints volunteered at the Cradles to
Crayons Giving Factory. Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons
is a non-profit organization, which collects new and gently used
items for children of all ages and then creates and donates care
packages for those in need. Through these efforts, Emmanuel
student-athletes were able to impact the lives of 211 local
children.
Cradles to Crayons endeavors to provide homeless and low-income
children with the essentials they require to thrive - to feel safe,
warm, ready to learn, and valued. The care packages, which
the Saints helped to create, are child specific. Thus, if a
child is in need of a winter coat or school supplies, then a
package is created to meet his or her specific needs.
Cradles to Crayons has two locations, the one where the Saints
volunteered on North Beacon Street in Brighton, Mass., as well as
another in Philadelphia, Penn. The organization typically
receives referrals through various social service agencies.
Each week, Cradles to Crayons gets approximately 500 requests for
children's clothes, boots, toys and baby equipment. Volunteer
groups often perform their community service activities in the
warehouse, or "The Giving Factory," sorting and organizing
donations and creating care packages.

website.
