March 7, 2009
MEDFORD, Mass. - Two members of the Saints indoor track team competed at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship held at Tufts University on Saturday afternoon. Senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) competed in her last indoor meet as a member of the Saints team. Lariviere placed 20th overall in the 5k with a time of 18:54.80.
On the men's side, freshmen Christopher Conway (Norton, Mass.) became the very first Emmanuel track athlete to win an ECAC title. His first place finish in the men’s 55-meter hurdles helped the Saints place 32nd overall. Conway’s first-place time was 7.73. This was his second-best time ever as a Saint. Conway ran 7.72 and recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time at the Division III New England Championship on February 21st. Conway finished the season with a Division III ranking of 17th in the country. His provisional qualifying time left him just .05 seconds shy of being able to participate in the national championship. The NCAA selected the top 13 athletes and Conway wrapped up the season as the 17th ranked Division III hurdler.
