SAINTS SHINE AT DIII NEW ENGLANDS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & BRUNSWICK, Maine - Several members of the Emmanuel Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in the Division III New England Championship on Saturday afternoon. The qualifying women competed at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, while the qualifying men competed locally at MIT in Cambridge, Mass. . For one Saint, it was a full weekend of competition, while another ran his personal goal at the USA Track & Field Championship, held on Sunday at Harvard.
Freshman Christopher Conway (Norton, MA) was on fire Saturday afternoon with his victorious performance in the 55-meter hurdles. His NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 7.72 ranked him 14th nationally and was an improvement to his own school record. Conway is the track & field program's first New England D3 winner and nationally-ranked athlete. The men's 4 x 400 team, consisting of juniors Dan D'Amato (Huntington, MA), Rob Littleton (Plymouth, MA), Andrew Heath (Stanford, CT) and Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME), ran a combined time of 3:34.94, just missing the program indoor record.
The following day at Harvard, Conway placed third in the 60-meter hurdles, running a school record time of 8.39. Freshman Wesley Cowles (Hebron, CT) ran his best 800-meter race of the season with a time of 2:04.75, just missing the school indoor record.
Senior Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, NH) ran the 5K on Saturday at Bowdoin with a time of 18.55. The women's 4X400 team, consisting of sophomores Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, MA), Jessica Robinson (Holliston, MA), Irene Limlengco (Brookline, MA) and freshman Brittany Sorice (Dover, NH), lowered their program record with a time of 4:26.14.
Athletes, Conway and Lariviere, will compete again at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on March 7, which will take place at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
