SAINTS TEAR IT UP AT GREATER BOSTON TRACK CLUB INVITE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational held at Harvard University on Sunday afternoon. The Saints returned their full squad to action and Emmanuel athletes excelled by posting 28 personal records and one new program record. In addition, the Saints qualified in five different events for the New England Division III Championships.
The Saints notched two qualifying performances in the men's 400-meter dash. Sophomore Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) led the way with a personal best time of 51.35 to finish 4th, while freshman Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.) also PRed with a time of 51.56 to grab 5th place in the race. Julien went on to qualify again in the 200 meters. The rookie snagged 6th place overall with his collegiate personal best time of 23.24.
Both Bruno and Julien were also part of the record-setting men's 4 x 200 meter relay team, along with Ben Perdue (West Springfield, Mass.) and Wesley Cowles (Hebron, Conn.). The team raced to 1st place finish in a new Emmanuel school record time of 1:36.04.
The Emmanuel women were led by junior Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.), who was part of two Division III New England qualifying performances on the day. Victoria finished 5th overall in the 200m dash with her personal best time of 27.47. She also anchored the qualifying women's 4 x 200 meter relay team. Victoria, along with Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.), Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.) and Shannon McCabe (Charlestown, R.I.), raced to a 4th place finish with a time of 1:52.91.
Among the notable personal bests on the day was that of sophomore Meaghan Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.), who cut 20+ seconds off her time in the Mile to finish in 6:01.69. Mauer was also one of nine Emmanuel athletes to PR in the 800 meter race, with a time of 2:40.11. Junior Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) ran her race in 2:41.08. Sophomore Danielle Martin (York, Me.) came in with a PR at 2:43.21, while both Kat Albitz (Round Rock, Tex.) and Abigail Dudley (Dennis, Mass.) finished in their best times at 3:30.26 and 3:39.22, respectively.
Bruno led the Emmanuel men in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:00.31. Freshman Brian Collins (Hull, Mass.), sophomore Michael Morris (Stoughton, Mass.) and freshman Dana Murphy (Dennisport, Mass.) rounded out the personal record setters in the men's 800m.
Leading the field events were strong performances in the weight throw by senior captain Gregory Brown (Norton, Mass.) and sophomore Mitch Moise (Medford, Mass.). Brown threw for 31'1.25 and Moise launched the weight his furthest at 30'9". Women's team captain Kathleen King (South Easton, Mass.) posted a distance of 35'1", while senior Maggie MacKay (Burlington, Mass.) threw the weight 21'3.50".
The two teams will return to competition next Saturday, January 28th, when the Saints travel to Gorham, Maine to compete in the University of Southern Maine Invitational, beginning at 1:00 PM.
