BOSTON - In their first weekday meet of the 2023-24 schedule, Emmanuel Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field saw numerous personal records fall at the River Hawk Invitational, hosted by UMass Lowell, at the TRACK at New Balance on Friday.
The PRs were getting set early, starting in the 60 meters with senior Adeline LeGault (Farmington, Conn.) completing the dash in 8.46 seconds. The senior sprinter has improved to a new PR in each of her four attempts in the 60-meter dash and now holds the third-fastest 60 meters in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference this season. LeGault added a PR in the 400 meters, finishing the event in 1:03.39, also good for third-best among GNAC sprinters.
Junior Krysten Rafferty (Patchogue, N.Y.) matched LeGault with a pair of PRs of her own, coming in the 200 and 400 meters. Rafferty ran a flat 31.00 in the 200 meters, boosting her position in the GNAC into the top-20. In the 400 meters, Rafferty set a PR by over 2.5 seconds, after completing today's event in 1:09.28.
Another 200-meter PR fell with junior Reilly Slusser (White River Junction, Vt.) completing the event in 28.58. The new PR moves Slusser into fifth place in the GNAC this season.
Two more PRs were set on the track on Friday with senior Emma Krantz (Manchester, N.H.) posting an 11:55.76 in the 3000 meters and first-year Kendall Newton (Gloucester, Mass.) finishing the mile in 5:58.77. Krantz moves to fifth in the 3000 meters among GNAC runners this season while Newton goes to third in the mile.
The final PRs on the women's side came from the high jump at the TRACK as first-year Kason Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) cleared the bar at 1.38 meters (4' 6.25") and sophomore Emily Greene (Swansea, Mass.) went over the bar at 1.48 meters (4' 10.25"). Emmanuel holds three of the top-six high jumps in the conference this season while Greene moves into third-best in the event in the GNAC.
On the men's side, sophomore Alexander Constant (Concord, N.H.) topped his personal best in the mile with a time of 5:13.72.
Emmanuel is back in action next Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3, competing in the Cupid Invitational at Tufts University.
