Brito's Triple Jump PR Secures GNAC Field Athlete of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints junior Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) posted a pair of top-10 finishes in two field events last Sunday at the UMass Boston Beacons Season Opener, and as a result, has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on Dec. 11.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints junior Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) posted a pair of top-10 finishes in two field events last Sunday at the UMass Boston Beacons Season Opener, and as a result, has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on Dec. 11.
Brito set a new personal best in the triple jump this week, clearing the 10m mark for the first time, officially measuring in at 10.01m (32'10.25"), good for third place at the event. She also finished 10th in the long jump with a mark of 4.35m (14'3.25").
The Saints junior also ran in the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes, placing 22nd and 23rd, respectively in those two events.
The jump of 10.01 meters places Brito at the top of the performance list among GNAC competitors, clearing the second-place athlete by 0.54 meters in the early season results.
The Saints break for the remainder of the semester and return on Jan. 13, 2024, at the Reggie Poyau Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University.
