BROOKS QUALIFIES FOR NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP AT TUFTS INVITE
MEFORD, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior jumper Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) qualified for the New England Division III Championship in the High Jump Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Invitational. Brooks qualified for the championship for the fourth consecutive year with a leap of 4’11.75” to kick off a strong start to the second half of the 2016-17 indoor track & field campaign.

There were several personal bests on during the day from the Saints despite coming back from the month-long break. Freshman Jackie Schneider (Weymouth, Mass.) posted a PR time in the 60m hurdles at 10.93 seconds. Freshman Kaitlyn Killion (Bellingham, Mass.) PR'ed in the 60m race with a time of 9.76 seconds. Sophomore Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) posted a PR time in the 400m race clocking in at 64.37 seconds.
All three of the Saints female throws collected PR's in the Shot Put as freshman Shannan Donahue (Manchester, N.H.) (27'1.25"), freshman Amie Knowles (Seabrook, N.H.) (25'9.50") and freshman Gianna Kittle (Rocky Hill, Conn.) (24'5.75") all enjoyed new personal bests in the event.
On the men's side, junior Constantino Politis (Saugus, Mass.) recorded a Weight Throw toss of 31'3" for a new PR while sophomore Christopher Rosaio (Weymouth, Mass.) posted a PR in the Shot Put with a heave of 24'6.25".
In his EC debut, sophomore Cameron Atherton (Rowley, Mass.) notched PR's in the 200m and 60m events with times of 24.78 and 7.61 seconds. Sophomore Jefferson Zannoni (Merrimack, Mass.) enjoyed a PR in the 600m race at 1:35.34 while freshman Patrick Carty (Sweeden, Maine) finished the 1 mile event in a PR time of 4:53.08. The final PR on the men's side came from newcomer freshman Noah Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt.) who finished the 3K distance race in 10:06.43, good for a PR.
The Saints return to action next Saturday, January 21 at the Smith College Invitational in Northampton, Mass.
